A patient confined to the harsh conditions of a Victorian asylum clings to her faith to overcome a dark presence that visits her nightly.

Director's Statement

Eliphaz is a gothic ghost story set within the Victorian era. The story centers around a woman that has been condemned to a place that strives to deprive her of the only thing she has left in this world… her hope. Woven into its narrative are themes of faith, perseverance and ultimately hope with the Book of Job as its inspirational cornerstone.

As with many of the films my twin brother and I have crafted since childhood, we have passionately worn nearly every hat to bring Eliphaz into existence. From writing, directing, building and designing the primary set, learning to tile the set’s floor, constructing furniture, sewing the protagonist’s bedsheet & pillowcases, to undertaking how to effectively pull off practical effects. Through strenuous trail and error this film has been built on nothing less than steadfast perseverance. It’s also gifted by a stirring performance by Sable Griedel and features a haunting and yet beautiful score by Juan Carlos Enriquez and Fernando Arroyo Lascurain.

Our hope is that we’ve created something special, a film that is both spine-chilling and connects on a spiritual level.
